Roland JP8000 Vs. Access Virus B |
 |
|
I was thinking about a new piece of gear i was offered both the jp8000 and the virus b at decent prices. so i thought id throw them in the ring here. iv played around with the jp8000 years ago for a few minutes and had some fun with it not any time to get to know it but iv never had the chance to even look at the virus. _________________ mY MusIc

It's a while since I played with any of them. IIRC the JP is good on smoothness and the Virus is good on madness - that would be how I perceive their natural disposition. The virus voice is a bit more flexible than the JP. That said, like most synths, what comes out is mostly up to what a hard working synthesist is willing to put in. What do you want/need from a new synth?

I've owned both synths at different times over the past several years, personal preference would be for the Virus. I'd have to agree with the comment about the JP8000 having a "smooth" sound, which is probably why it didn't stay with me very long. Most sounds I edited tended to have a similar quality regardless of what I tried. The Virus is a much more flexible synth, but the amount of menu diving involved in editing patches kind of turned me off and I recently sold mine. |

Both are pretty good but you should really hear them to make a decision.
The 8000 can do some metallic sounds that always appealed to me & the virus b which I just sold can be fairly flexible. -It's really gonna boil down to what your looking for sound wise. _________________ It is at least ten times more difficult to get a good synthesizer sound than on an acoustic instrument. - Giorgio Moroder |
