I bought my first batch of (hopefully many!) PCBs from Ken a month ago. So far on the bench:
CGS09 VC Divider x1
CGS34 ASR x1
CGS48 VCO x2
these are all very, very nearly done - just waiting for a few resistors and trimmers which have been delayed.
and hopefully on the way now, I am getting:
CGS32 infinite melody x1
CGS35 Steiner VCF x1
CGS36 pulse divider x1
CGS50 Harry Bissell lag x2
CGS51 weighted random switch x1
CGS55 analog switch matrix x1
CGS62 slope detector x2
I am completely psyched! The boards are top quality. The circuits appear to be really well thought out and musical. Everything is finally coming together! |

Hello!
CGS 66 (Power Supply)
I have CGS 32 (Infinite Melody) on standby until I figure out what else I will need to make it work (apart from CGS 41 (Diatonic Converter) which is a must and apparently CGS 31 (Digital Noise).
Any suggestions regarding what else is necessary to make it work as a standalone box??
Thanks!

The inf.melody is designed as a control voltage generator, so you should need some modules for it to control - oscillators, filters, VCAs...
but it should be quite capable of operating at audio frequencies, so maybe you could just feed it a suitable clock signal and see what you get
depends how minimal you want to go. |

Hello!
Would an SN-Voice be suitable, at least to begin with?
Thanks!

Yes! that would be very suitable
think about a filter and VCA too.....oh watchout !! feature creep |

i was bored one day and hacked his sequential switch from the component overlay image. Because i wanted it eurorack format i cut the pcb design in half.
What a great module thanks ken!!

Edit: Update as of January 2016
time for dropping in my modules i have finished on stripboards...
so far:
1xSteiner VCF
3xPsycho LFO
4xVCA
2xVoltage Controlled Slope
1xSlope Detector
8xDC Mixer (2x2, 2x4 & 4x3inputs)
3xBandpass Filter
2xSerge 1973 Envelope Generator
1xReal Ringmodulator
1XJoystick Controller (3-Axis)
8xGate/Trigger Converter
2xNegative Slew
1xGated Comparator with Mixed CV out
1xSerge VCF
1xserge Resonant Equalizer
1xSerge Noise (w/o S&H)
2xBurst Generator
1xSerge VCADSR
1xMaster Divider
1xPulse Divider
1xDrum Simulator
2xVoltage Processor
a few of the Transistor logic blocks from the pulse divider
on my list for further builds
positive slew
serge smooth and stepped Generator
gate sequencer (Panel is already drilled and prepared for 2 of them)
another Pulse Divider is also drilled on that Panel
right now i'm building my Serge Switches and Routers...
Serge VCA/Gate
and maybe the Analog shift Register
i think this "wish list" combined with my plans for other modules will keep me busy for another few years...
edit: just finished the 2nd 1973 style envelope Generator and 2 negative slews... _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j Last edited by wackelpeter on Sun Jan 24, 2016 4:55 am; edited 2 times in total |

until now i've cleared from my previous list the gated comparator with the extra mixed Output as per the best of CGS Panels...
also finished 2 negative slews...
2 further dc-Mixers... sometimes you can't have enough of them when you don't have enough Inputs on your modules and enough attentuators...
and not on my list but very useful 2 voltage processors and another 1973 serge envelope Generator have been built on stripboard...
and now biting my way around the serge vcadsr... building is done but it doesn't work right now... hope i can fix this soon...
Edith says:
seem's to be fixed right now... after a resoldering 3 suspect solder Points i got it working but only with approx. 0,5 Volt Output... then realized that i put the 82k resistor instead of pin 12 on the lm324 on pin 13...
everything seem's to be okay now... only sustain don't have any effect which it had before with those 0,5v Output... it's a bit late now and i will have a look again at it tomorrow...
P.P.S.
Serge VC ADSR is fixed also now... got a Bridge to the wrong pin of the 4016...
Also over this Weekend i finished the Serge Resonant EQ... nice for filtering drum sounds or drone-like sounds... so hopefully next week there's some time to Play with my new modules... if not any new module Comes in my way... still need a VCF for my 4th case which is now roughly 2/3rd stuffed...
P.P.P.s Now i've finished the Serge 1973 VCF and Serge Noise w/o the S&H circuit as i didn't have any Ca3130 here and already have 2 S&H modules in my cases...
btw. the Serge VCF is a really fine one... together with the Yusynth Steiner Filter one of my best sounding to my ears... maybe that's the one VCF i could build a second one too for my cases... _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j |
