Subject description: Which is the easiest way to produce one random number from a range?

I want to produce a random number (midi) within a arbitrary range (say 23-59) each time a trig is detected, like when a key is pressed.

I need quite a few of those so I need an economical and effective solution and I'm not pleased with my own creations using noise and sample and hold and gates and stuff....

Any ideas? Maybe I missed something but seems to me none of the Random-modules can produce a random number within a selectable range.

I always use two constant modules running into the inputs of an x-fade module which is set to linear mode and then modulate the fade with the random signal. When one of the value limits is zero no constant is needed for that but that xfade input can be left open instead.

Great idea!
Very handy, I'm gonna try that.

You can also run your random signal through the note quantizer and set the desired range there. Then you can make this range adjustable from a knob.
Add a constant to it if needed.
