Looking for any deals on switches .... anyone know of? |
 |
|
Hey all. I'm looking for a slightly larger quantity of switches, for a new sequencer that I've been designing.
I'd prefer NOT to use the normal looking toggle switches.
Slide switches (on / on, on / off / on) are ok but PADDLE switches would be fair preferable.
Would anyone buy chance know of a sale of any, anywhere for a decent price? I'm hoping to find up to 100. At least 40 pieces. (8 step sequencer, with 5 switches on each step. Hoping to get up to 16 or 32 steps though.)
Thanks for any tips! |

Heh. Excellent David! Those are the exact same brand of switches that our biggest electronics supplier here in the city carries, as well as a 'hole in the wall' place.
My test department engineer at work tonight told me to bring a couple of them in to work tomorrow and he'll put them through some hi-pot tests to see roughly what their quality is, for breakdown voltage / etc.
If he feels' they're at least 'average', I'll place an order for a bunch. The ones that I've bought here so far, though sensitive to a 700ºF soldering iron for too long, have worked ok so far. |

Thanks for reminding me on that one! I'll try to remember to grab a couple to bring BACK into work, today.
No! My test engineer / bud, from work ended up in the hospital with a nasty chest infection! He showed up at work on Friday night FINALLY but was almost immediately kicked out (to send him home for rest), due to having had pneumonia as well. :O
I'm fully expecting to start seeing him in today though. I'll remind him of the switch testing request of mine to see if we can get it done. |

I'm on the hunt for some cheap
on-on-on switchs if anyone knows a deal that would be great. These things can be expensive. |

Not what you are looking for but I have some really good long handle pc pin (very wide c&k U33 3PDTmini toggles for trade.
I am using them in all of my sequencers. I use them for everything . I lucked out , I feel so lucky that I can use all premium switches on my synth they are normally way too expernsive. I will trade up to 150 and I have anotheer 100 that I will sell or trade only for a similar spst or dpdt switch. Here is a link to a Photo.

What is the switching action? From the photos, it looks like ON / OFF / ON (non-momentary?)
ON / OFF / ON's would be cool.
What are you looking for in trade?
Actually - could you sell 2, so I may see how I like them with the extra long switch handles? If they're workable, then I could look at a larger quantity. |

Ex'lent! PC mount being a big plus, would allow me to put them into PCBs. With a new Ray Wilson MFOS Sequencer mod that I thought up just today, multiples of 16, of those switches would VERY handy! (I thought of making a multiple 16 step set of Gate switches, so that I could have multiple patterns. I'd like to do a 4 x 16 step version first. At 64 switches - here, that would cost me at least 64 x $1.25 )

Wonderful! Many thankees! My addy'll be at the bottom.

How about an actual CYNARE?? I was debating taking mine out of my system, as well as my cloned Shimmer section from the Cynare. (I have the original Cynare built and mounted in my standard 19" rack mount. I would just send you the ENTIRE rack panel that contains the Cynare as well as mounting holes for a VCO, which i've since moved to a dedicated VCO panel.)

I have at least 10 x 1N34A germanium diodes. Possibly, 20. I'll have to count them. I WAS going to build a fuzz box but I have SO many modules backlogged, it'd be at least a year before I get to it.

Damn. How about MTA .156? I have over 3,000 (THREE THOUSAND) 11 pin connectors. I haven't had a single drop of interest in the For Sale section for them.
I've reserved a standard bag of 250 for myself. That, will last me for the rest of my life. (At 4 pins per module's power input.)

I have 3 to 5 SSM2210's as I buy them regularly. Pricing recently went up though. I think they're about $8 Canadian now, in single quantity. (I just had 2 more come in, a few days ago. I use them for VCOs.)
I also have SURFACE MOUNT 1k tempcos. A little patience is required for soldering them, but they work beautifully.

Let me know of anything else that you may be looking for in trade.
I don't know what you're looking for, but I WOULD let go some of my CA3080's. (I have about 30, if I remember correctly.)
I have approximately 60 x 15"x9" single sided copper boards for making PCBs with. (Constant supply, from work. Approximately 5 per month.)
I do have a LOT of other stock as I've been building modulars on and off since 1992.
Hardly ANY rare stuff though. During my last household move, I lost most of my linear stuff including my SSM stockpile.
Now - failing any trades that you'd be interested in - how much would you be asking per switch? If it came to that and the 2 you'll be sending work well / fit my scheme, I'd be interested in multiples, of 16. (16, 32, 48 ..... 128 / etc. ) |

Ooooops. Meant to send that privately. I didn't wish to clog up the public thread.
Ah well. No skeletons were set free from my closet, in that message anyways. |

I am sorry Ryk. I meant a Pollard Syndrum not a Synare I often get them mixed up. I need Syndrum schemos. I have 4 channels that need power and two that need fixing.
Get back me privately and we can continue this off list. I do want some stuff.
I am really glad Dan liked and used his switches, he's kicking in a lot of positive energy these days. |

I had some samples sent to me and the black ones are more heat resistant than the blue ones (BF202). I just ordered 100 each of the DPDT and SPDT for a my Lush pedal. Not bad at $0.76 each
I have read some bad reviews of Hongkongsuperseller but I have always had good luck with them. |
yah.. beware of hongkongsuperseller... I got some items from him that where sub par quality. I wont buy a thing from him again _________________ http://ypsisynth.blogspot.com/

The blue ones which I'd ordered and gotten from them, are the exact same make sold at my local supplier, as well as the city's local junk shop.
Heat resistant - NOT. I wont buy any of them, ever again. (That particular brand, of that blue colour.) |
