Micro-Modular Subject description: Boot problems |
 |
|
Hi
I have a bit of a problem with my trusty Micro. When i tried to upload some patches to it, it lost communication with the PC. I tried to re-establish the communication but it failed. Then I disconnected the Micro and took it over to a friend of mine for making some sounds. But there it wouldn't start. The only thing it does is booting up. So the display shows 3.0 (OS version) and after that it goes black and produces no sound at all. Only when I boot the thing while pressing one of the buttons it'll start up completely. But then it's not running stabile. Buttons aren't working the when they should for example. And communication with the PC is not working. So I can't reinstall the firmware either. And the thing is that I never had any problems whatsoever with it. I have this Micro for 8 years now and it always worked fine.
I'm really stuck here and I hope someone knows what to do about it. |

Not sure what to do ... doesn't sound like a MIDI interface problem ... maybe the power supply is not good or making bad contact or the wire damaged? ... I don't know too much about the micro, but I'd open it to see if there is anything obvious ... but the ROM IC not being properly seated is probably the only obvious thing to be seen (if anything) in a micro (probably there are no connectors and everything is on one board) .... this sucks. _________________ Jan

It happens to me occasionally

Thanx for the replies. I appreciate that!
I use a USB RomI/O MIDI cable for handling the MIDI part. And for the PC link I use the MIDI connector on my (ahem) Terratec 24/96. The thing is that I didn't change a thing in my setup for a year or so. So the fact is that in the same conditions (same OS on my PC e.a.) the Micro starts to act different.
Well as a last resort I can open it and have a look inside, because I'm starting to think about a broken motherboard. But first I'll try a different voltage adaptor. |
