Are there any cookbooks and technical synthesis theories and applications books out there? I want to expand my mind as far as thinking about how to synthesize sounds with my modular. Any good sites or references?

You know.. a very nice place to start is with Gordon Reid´s very accessible articles. You will learn a lot of fun stuff that makes it easier to understand and cope with some of the more dense stuff you might find in some of the textbooks.

Enjoy!
Cool

The ARP 2600 user guide is the definitive modular synth manual.

Well actually I take that back... Allen Strange's book Electronic Music: Systems, Techniques, and Controls IS the definitive guide.

That said you can download the arp 2600 ug free off the Wiard website....

In addition to those mentioned above, I really like this one, too:

Analog Electronic Music Techniques (Schirmer, 1985) by James Wagoner and Joel Naumann

Oh, of course, how could I forget. This uses the Nord Modular for the purpose of illustrating examples but the techniques are easily adaptable to any modular.

Advanced Programming Techniques for Modular Synthesizers

http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~clark/nordmodularbook/nm_book_toc.html

And this is a little more Nord Modular/G2-specific but it's excellent nonetheless:

Thanks cebec.

I looked on wiard's site the other night, but couldn't find the arp manuals, just the wiard manuals. Did i miss it there?

Thanks again everyone, some really great resources there.
