I noticed last night that sometime my pitch stick's resting value is 66, sometimes it's 65. This worries me a bit. Am I sometimes playing slightly out of tune?

The same as yours... Maybe that's why I never sell records too...
Anyway, just slightly touching the tip makes it change, so I think its value at rest is just on the edge of 65 and 66.
