every time i start up my nord modular rack G1 it forgets the midi ch (so at startup it is always channel 1/2/3/4 and not 13/14/15/16 wich i like it to be) and his name i gave him Rolling Eyes does this mean that the backup battery is empty?

thanks in advance

There is no battery ... settings are stored in flash memory I think and when that doesn't remember it's broken ... are you sure to have memory protect off?

thanks for the reaction (bedankt)

really strange, when i when i put the NM on and then off, the memory protection is always off , the name is always modular and the ch are always 1/2/3/4 ( so if change them with another value they always reset after reboot

I could only think it would be some kind of battery problem, but sins you say that there is no battery inside i really dunno. what could be broken? I can live with the problem but wanted to exchange it with someone with a keyboard version Sad

Flash memory has a limited amount of write cycles. I don't know what Clavia's design rules are for this so I can't really tell if there is a possible problem, just that there could be (considering the age of the Classics (ten years or so)). There have been reports in the past as well about NM Classics forgetting stuff like settings and patches. When this is in fact a problem the Flash chips could be replaced, but not easily as they are surface mounted.

thanks again Jan,

wel if this is the only problem i can live with it, but selling it could be a problem. If NM remembers the patches i can live with it i guess.

i think i will mail clavia and wait for an answer.

greet

Hmm, yes, not saving is another good reason for the synth not to remember Laughing
