NEW York, August 19, 2003 - WEA Corp., Warner Music Group's (WMG) U.S. sales and marketing company, announced today that John Dalton has been named VP, lifestyle sales. Based in New York, Dalton will report to John Madison, WEA Corp.'s senior vice president. In his new position, Dalton will be responsible for bringing WMG's music to consumers outside of the traditional means of retail. The lifestyles sales department is charged with addressing the non-traditional customer base as well as handling and merchandising non-traditional product to music retailers.

In making the announcement, Madison said, "John is a skilled executive with a wealth of marketing and product management experience. Since creating the lifestyle sales team earlier this year, we have been able to successfully bring our music to consumers wherever they are and I am confident that John will help us continue to grow in this area."

Dalton holds a bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music.

I wonder what they consider to be "non-traditional" product?

I really wonder myself... an Ozzie thong? Buttplugs branded Pet Shop Boys? Marilyn Manson surgery? Fake Shakira nipples for little girls not yet in puberty? I reckon these are non music goods but related to the various marketable lifestyle features of the various artists. One might wonder when they will discover they are in the music business.. selling music.. well.. this is one we have to watch.. I really wonder how they will work this "lifestyle" approach.
