TB303 Sequencer |
 |
|
This has to be the most overlooked sections of the 303, yet it is what gave it so much character. It's an ace controller too. I remember hooking it up through CV to the SH101, it sends all the pitch slide information. Another thing on the TB303 sequencer was the tap button, which you could tap the sequence rhythm in without quantizing the note length, to get those real 'stabby' (gated) basslines. This was the stuff that made it so special, these features are nearly always overlooked in software.
Is this doable as a modular sequencer? It would make an essential addition to any modular setup _________________ LektroiD |

Here's the main board, but can't see any sign of a sequencer here

it is probably easier to just replicate the xoxbox sequencer and adapt it to modular world. the xoxbox seq is a lot more usable than the 303 one imo, they have really ironed out the annoying kinks. _________________ problemchild

Do you know if the xoxbox has the features mentioned above (which so many clones seem to miss out)? It will be a complete shame if they have also omitted those essential features too - especially the 'tap' key for creating those unique gates.
Also, if you took the batteries out, it would build a whole library of fresh sequences. I presume there would have to be a battery backing up the memory if it were to be modularised, and maybe be a hard reset switch to refresh the random sequences.
I do recall it was near impossible to record in 'song' mode, I managed it once, but took so long and was so easy to make a barely repairable mistake, I never attempted it again. I wouldn't miss this feature! _________________ LektroiD |

Discussion of using just the sequencer of the XoXoX is being discussed at the moment on the AH list... I haven't followed it particularly, but people seem to be reckoning you could cut the main PCB (and perhaps front panel too) without too much trouble... I dunno really - check it out _________________ http://www.bugbrand.co.uk

I can't seem to navigate that site very well, I can't find any forum there? _________________ LektroiD |
