Hi.

Is there any diy freq. to BPM calculators with 7 segment LED displays out there ? I did a google search, but was just flooded with program downloads..

Say you build a small CV sequencer or something. Then you want 3 little didgits telling you the BPM of the clock.. How can this be done ? Is it possible without microcontrollers ?

never found one.....would be nice tho!
Would be an interesting cmos project but so much easier with a pic.

can offer two options -
build a set frequency clock cct and pulse divider to get outputs at desired rates. This will limit you to certain BPM rates but its cheap and easy to build.
You could have multiple outputs or a rotary switch and single output.

or, if you happen to have an electribe, here's a very easy trigger out mod - try this!

Sadly I don't have an electribe.. Would like one thou.. Not sure which model.. So many to choose from..

Yes a "simple" CMOS circuit would be very nice.. Hmm, set freq. could be ok I guess.. It would just be so sweet to have some 7 segment displays tell you what your BPM is..

another option would be to buy a frequency meter kit, like this one (tho it is a bit over spec'd for a synth)

guess you want one that can count down to fractions of Hz
and build it into a panel.
just patch in signals when you need to know the freq.....and multiply by 60 to get BPM Smile
