Analogue Solutions Vostok

Hi,
has anyone got this and can come with an short review?
I tried it shortly and was found about it.

I have owned a Vostok...

It's a simple modular set-up with an MS-20 style filter and 8 step sequencer. It uses a pin matrix; similar to an EMS, and it is packaged in a neat suitcase.

I did not own this system for very long; for reasons which I will explain.

1. the synth lacks complexity; a very bread-n-butter modular.
2. the build quality is poor and the case is not suited for travel.
3. my "new" system arrived in poor condition from the factory.
4. the pin matrix is very small, difficult to use, and not enjoyable.
4. I realized that I could build a better system from Euro modules.

Take the time to research manufactures and modules, you will be much happier with something that you built for your specific needs and not a pre-fab system...

I have to tend to agree with you. I never owned a Vostok, because IMO I think they are crap. There was no imagination put into the design, and it looks very much like it was manufactured to compete with an EMS VCS3 or AKS, which is frankly an insult to Peter Zinovieff.

Fredrik, If you want a shithot modular for under a grand, get a Nord G2. Failing that, and you want analogue (+ value for money), look at Analogue Systems (NOT solutions!). I had an Analogue Solutions minimodular- it was shite. If you've got the bucks, get a Wiard Series 300- expensive but lovely! Failing that, get stuck into our DIY sections, and get acquainted with the posse. Cool
