I have been the owner of Nordlead 2 as well as Clavia Modular. Many people say that you virtually have a Nordlead 2 within the Clavia Modular. However i find this not to be true, as the Nordlead 2 has a different character on filter & resonance. Nordlead 2 is very sharp sounding, Clavia Modular is also very sharp sounding on the OSC`s, but that is until you add a filter module. Even though the filter, say lowpass, is 100% open, you hear a big difference in sound. The filter modules starts cutting even though you have them maximum open. This is a behaviour that find strange, if you take a Juno or SH-101, when filter is open - filter is open.
Wich means you have all the fzzzz and overtones from the OSC coming through.
Because of this behaviour of the filter modules, it results in the Clavia Modular being a darker sounding synthesizer, and lacks the sharpness and higher frequencis from Nordlead.

I also find the FM to sound different on Nordlead 2.

So featurewise, sure you have a Nordlead 2, soundwise not a chance. Compare it side by side and you have two synthesizers with different character.

So i would like to know what you think about this? How good is the modular as a lead machine? Do you use EQ within or externally to boost high frequencis?

Sorry for bad english.

Well, have you compared the three PCMCIA card files already? I think it's hard to notice, even when the conversion set up isn't what the NordLead2 really is.

See http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Nord_Lead_Emulation/
and

except the three library03 files.

Yeah when i had both synthesizers i compared and while the files you mentions are featurewise replicas of the Nordlead 2 patches, they are not replicas soundwise. Close but different.
