NM Classic Editor for Mac OSX 10.6 |
 |
|
Hi all, i'm pretty sure i know the answer to this but thought i'd check anyway, and apologies if this subject is covered elsewhere on here.
does anyone know of an alternative editor for the NM classic that actually works under the latest apple mac OS's?
i've been scraping by using the beta version but as the mac OS has been getting updated more and more i've found it to be less and less reliable and now with OS 10.6 my computer is telling me i have to run/install rosetta when i try opening the editor..
also i would love to know if there's enough people like me out there that would actually pay a small but reasonable fee for nord to start supporting this software again..
it seems crazy that they don't when this synth is still so relevant to what's out there and some say still better than the G2.
maybe we could do a petition or something?
thanks,

Clavia, the company which makes Nord, read these things too and could do something or even somebody else could, which happened in the recent past.
Anyway, I'm not optimistic, but who knows?

I think it's about time Nord started listening to people on this forum and update the OS.
They could even sell or give us the code to update it ourselves. they don't seem to be interested though.
The NM classic is a great synth & I recon it has a lot more potential.
I keep watching this site for any progress, The Nomad editor seems to have died away too.
I guess I live in hope. |

The NM1 class synths are still remarkable machines and I´m sure keeping them running would add a significant marketing boost to the Clavia brand.
In fact, in retrospect Clavia could have achieved a wonderful track record if they had paid attention to the software to both the NM and G2 lines. Instead of becoming a company that will orphan older products they should have chosen a different path. I hope they will consider doing something. I would even be prepared to pay for an upgrade.
It is however a bit weird that they haven´t come up with a software strategy that involves a framework that can be updated as the operating systems change and this framework then hosts plugins for each of their synths. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

you were using rosetta before. it is not installed by default in 10.6 - that's the only difference.
editor is crashing sometimes thet's true but you can use alternative nomad - it covers all basic functions of original editor. Last edited by thoffir on Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:21 am; edited 1 time in total |

"If Rosetta isn't already installed when you try to launch a PowerPC-based application, Snow Leopard will display a dialog asking if you want to install Rosetta. Clicking Not Now stops the installation process, and your application won't launch. Clicking Install downloads and installs Rosetta from Apple's servers so your app can properly launch."

right. rosetta was installed by default on 10.5
on 10.6 you can install it manually from leopard cd or it is downloaded first time when ppc application is launched (in that case nm editor beta from clavia).
what i tried to say there should not be any difference if it is 10.6 or earlier os x (besides well know bugs and crashes). |
