Together, Can we get clavia to release stable OSX version? |
 |
|
I am all ears... Maybe we can get a working osx editor once and for all. please join me and use the contact form at clavia's website and write a personal letter asking them to revisit this issue. as you can see from my letter, clavia has left a sour taste in my mouth after the utter abandonment of the g1, just before an expected update... maybe some of your letters will be nicer.. some not.. point being I think we have a chance here to get them to do something..
here is the link

here is the letter I wrote:
Hi there, I know you run your company for profit, and there is little profit in releasing a stable version of the nord modular g1 editor for the mac, but it really erks me that you really feel that it is okay to hang us Nord Modular G1 users out to dry like this... I am emailing you to request you spend the week or two it would take to fix up the g1 mac editor to current standards, and make right this poor decision your company made to abandon its users.. all over money. I am aware of the hacky, amaturistic attempt made with the nomad java client, but that project is buggy at best and has been abandoned as well. If you can come up with a dollar ammount (based on your actions I think im speaking your language now), as far as what it will take to make some small improvements to your osx beta 3.03 g1 editor, I am all ears and can probably raise enough money to cover this and fix your reputation. If that is not an option, then can you please open up some of the osx beta source code so we can get a team together here in the states to revamp the code and return it to you in a finished and completed state. |

update: just received some corospondance from the US support office:
Paul,
I have forwarded this to the folks in Sweden.
Thank you for understanding the obvious need to focus efforts to keep Nord
on the cutting edge.
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

I would like to think that we can.
But only 42 voters in the "POLL: how many NM Classic (NM1 or G1) users out there?".
I am relay surprised by the lack of interest. seems allot lower than I thought.
 |

The reason this will NEVER happen, is that the NM editor runs perfectly well on both W98 and Mac OS9 based computers. You really want a dedicated PC for the Nord Mod. Development for a proper OSX version just isn't worth it for a product which is officially long defunct. It just doesn't make decent business sense to write an up to date editor for a 'dead' product.

What kind of "sum of money" are you thinking of? I don't want to sound rude, but I don't think you really have a grip on what kind of "sum of money" would be needed!
Wout is right. Get friendly with a local IT department. _________________ ACHTUNG!
