Subject description: Some PCBs being discontinued.

There are changes being forced on CGS by a change in local PCB manufacturing policy - specifically, my cheap manufacturer ain't makin' them no more.

Not that many boards are discontinued
the main point is prices will go up, so buy what you need/want now rather than later.

Ken -- have you considered putting the layouts for the dicontinued ones on your site? I will usually buy your PCB's as they are reasonably priced and I can't be bothered to do it but if there is no alternative. However I have made some with a bit of success...

I have already started doing exactly that. The Gate Sequencer is already online.

Excellent -- thanks very much -- i am sure that people will continue to get a lot of value from these modules. I am surprised how many people still make their own boards. Since Dick Smith has stopped selling the blank boards and Etchant and it is a bit more of hike to Altronics/Jaycar and the Aussie dollar is heading up I will probably be buying more anyway as it turns out...

Really? I bought some copperclad board the other day from my local one, I hope that wasn't the last of it.

I really hope this isn't true- as much as I love it when people choose to sell professionally made boards for their projects (thanks Ken!), I still get a kick out of doing my own occasionally. Crying or Very sad

It is true. A lot of Dick Smith shops do not even carry electronic parts any more. They are just another consumer electronics shop now.

Odds are, if you grabbed the last of it; they won't re-stock Crying or Very sad

I have been clearing out all the local DSEs as they put stuff on sale to clear it; 11c pots, thank-you, 1c Capacitors; I'll take em... sadly... that just leaves Jaycar... who charge like a wounded bull, hire people who don't know what a "pot" is & where I'm forced to listen to the EE uni drop-out manager moan everytime I visit... the only benefit is the one clerk that is the spitting image of "comic book guy" from the Simpsons... which I find VERY funny Very Happy

Boards are all gone, though I might be able to be convinced to part with my dual, 4 channel panel. It needs putting back together and maybe mounting on a new panel. Email in private if interested.
