Hello fellows,
Since there are some drawbacks on the nord lead which can make programming it confusing at times, like not being able to actually name a patch or the knobs being in position where theyd last been left, not the actual position of the patch and so on-all described in wouts thread about the need of an editor-i thought i really should give the nordgen a try. problem is, i cant get it running. whenever i try setting the midi-out in the nordgens properties, the setting for midi-in is automatically being reset. and vice versa: setting the midi-in resets the midi-out. seems like theres something wrong doesnt it?? the chain is: first generation nord rack->midiman aka m-audio midisport 4x4 interface->computer. help would, of course, be HIGHLY appreciated-im running out of percussion kit slots..i never really liked the way the performance mode works.. so cheers and thanks in advance Exclamation Exclamation

p.s. ive got a nord modular connected, too, via a midiman aka m-audio midisport 2x2. dont know if theyre interfering with each other, but disabling the 2x2 in the nordgen didnt help, at least so far..

The strange settings are a bug. It works like it should.

Important: Set the Global Midi channel on the synth to 16 [Shift+2x Unison] and scroll to 16 using the Up&Down arrows.
In NordGen set In and Out to the ports you want and set SysEx in receive mode!
See http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/Red_Lady/Index_bestanden/Red_Lady/Nord_Generator.htm

Performance mode is nothing more than just a mode in which it is easy to set up a performance, a gig or playing live on stage. Take a look at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/Red_Lady/Index_bestanden/Red_Lady/Prgm_Lay_Perf_01.htm
Not that important using in a studio set up, because the Lead has Midi. Confusing is the way how the Lead handles incoming Midi notes and Slots. You will dream about 'Left most Midi channel priority', which is, BTW very handy on the NordRack1 (I believe your synth...)

Surely until later,

Wout
