hi all,
i'm just finishing up my first two cgs panels, both cgs75s (the VCSs),
and wanted to make sure that i was thinking of counter-clockwise &
clockwise correctly before wiring up the pots…

http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs75_vcs.html

i'm thinking you'd be looking at the pot from above with the pins facing down?

cheers,
mark

not sure how i missed this before:
"The pots are viewed from the rear"

so that's 1/2 of the equation,
the other half being whether the pins are pointing up or down
when looking at them from the rear.

i guess i've got a 50/50 chance, so i can just try it out & see…
then if the polarity is wrong, just switch them around.

but if anyone knows offhand, it would be nice to just plug & go Smile

cheers,
mark

Hi Mark
welcome to e-m

Usually Ken's wiring diagrams show the pots from the rear with pins pointing upwards.
This is from Ken's VCA page:
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

Viewing pots this way the ground connection will go on the left, input or +V on the right. The main point is to get the centre pin connection correct, the other two just determine which way the pot will operate.

Physically take a pot, and twist it CCW. Look in the opening near the pins and you can see the wiper (16mm alpha type pot). That is the CCW end.
