Here is a pdf layout of a modified PCB for the VC-Quad-LFO.

This mod uses the SSM2220 matched PNP chip (minus pins 4 & 5) in a 6 pin socket on the PCB. The pads are mirrored now instead of flipped as is the case on discreet transistors.

This is (maybe) a substitute for the matched pairs of BC557C's.

Is this a workable solution? I'd like to know before I etch a board. I'm no EE.

It should but probably it will be necessary to increase the value of R7 ( up to 100K I guess, this has to be tried up).
