Does anyone know if Fatar keyboards like the one below will work with the Single Buss 1V/Octave Keyboard? I have not found any definate specs on them. Any input would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Sorry byt you cannot use this kind of bubble contact KB with the "single bus KB" because these bubble contact switches have a general resistance of aprox. 100 ohm when they are closed and they will interact with the 100 ohm resistors of the current source.

BUT you can use this type of KB with the "scanner matrix KB" found on the MFOS site under the DIY "Oldies but Goodies" chapter. This circuit works well, I have built one many years ago. Anyway this circuit will be as expensive as the board sold by Doepfer...

My advise is to buy or build a MIDI to CV converter (PIC programming skill needed but not that complicated...) and to add a KB conroller it's wat I do today when I build a new analog synth.

Cheers,

Alain

If you want to build a keyboard that uses that circuit the keyboards are easy to find in old electronic organs, usually two keyboards per organ, three if you use the pedals. Where I live there is almost always somebody trying to get rid of one at any given time, for free. Try craigslist, or if your community has it, freecycle.
