im buying a nord lead 2x... please make me feel god about it |
 |
|
hi guys!
after lots of thinking, im prepared to buy my first nord.
i really wanted to get a Nord Wave, but its just too expensive for me at the moment...
i played with the Nord Wave today and it sounded amazingly good, i understood that the lead 2x sounds even fatter and better...
i will try the Nord Lead 2x before im buying it ofcourse (today they didnt have it in stock), but i really wanted to ask you guys a simple question, why i should feel safe and happy in buying the Lead 2x and not the Wave? even if you are a Wave owners and not a Lead, what do you say about it?
the fact that the wave has some kind of a sampler and has some effects is a big deal in my toughts, but i guess i can handle without it, or do i? should i just keep save money or just go for the Lead 2x? i really dont want to wait and save more money to be honest but i dont want to make mistakes, so its a big deal for me.
its important to say that im playing in a post-punk band (sounds like/inspired by the horrors/sonic youth/nick cave/joy division, but the synth parts really inspired by the horrors synth, they have some vintage stuff and a Nord Wave if im not wrong), and playing on a tiny yet awesome mircokorg for now
hope you guys can help me!
cheers.
edit:
i thought about adding after a while a korg KP3 to get some effects for it and get sounds in loop mode, what do you think? anybody ever tryed them together? Last edited by kawa4 on Mon Aug 22, 2011 11:21 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Easy...
Nord 2X has an arpeggiator, and 4 slots! For effects you can buy a pedal and place it on top of the synth, and get much more knobby control too.
As for samples... you get bored of them after a while and have to load in new ones... The "pure" virtual analog 2X is a great instrument and will give you years of playing pleasure, and there is something of the purity that makes it an immediate, playable instrument, without you having to tinker with it and load a new sample that seemed like a good idea 30 minutes ago...
I do agree with you to some extent, the Wave is an intriguing instrument but have patience and things will come to you in time. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

first of all thank you for the comment
you gave me some other perspective about the wave that i didnt think of, so thats helpful.
i decided to go with the lead 2x after tons of discussions with people and after reading alot of it over the net and so on...
what do you think if i will add the korg KP3 for effects and looping?
i read alot of good reviews about it.
cheers! |

Looks like it sends MIDI clock, so you can sync the NL2X arp and LFO's to it, which sounds like fun!
They are fun little things, I'm sure you'd like it but give it a try in a shop and then decide. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Ah yes, thanks Wout.
I like that feature better actually, it is more flexible imo. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

thank you both!
i didnt buy the nl2x yet, im pretty confused and cant decide what to do
i still dont have the money for the wave, and after playing with the nl2x i felt like its a compromise if i'll buy it and not the wave... im not so sure why... but it just feels like that.
i really liked the nl2x actually, but i still believe that the effects and smpaling is a big deal for me...
im so confused and cant decide
i really want to go and buy the nl2x and have a new instrument now cus i can pay it... but i just dont know if its a compromise or not...

Save for the Wave if that's what you want. There is not much like it around. In any case, just bide your time and see - you could get a second hand Wave too if you want. Never jump into it too fast, but know when to strike.
Then, over time, get both! _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

I will start looking for anything interesting here about the Wave, if you can recommend me any nice threads about the Wave from the forum or from the whole network, it can be great!
Thank you all for helping me out! |

Hey! Congratulations!
What do you mean "from scratch"? Load your own samples?
I do not have a wave so I probably don't know the answer anyway. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

thank you
i mean - how to make a new sound from the synth itself, a pure sound without any modulation?
i know the SAMP INIT button, but it still uses the settings that the SI creator has applied to the SI...
Is it the only way to make a sound from scratch?
Thanks! |

Yeah, why not save a sound which is your idea of 'from scratch' - there are a few different ways to approach that. In the process you could learn a few things about the synth too.
When it comes to samples I'm not the best person to ask... _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum
