The Andromeda seems to be very good at emulating other synths, I've even heard stories of people selling other synths because they don't need them any more.

It can do Moog, Oberheim and even CS80 like sounds. I reckon it'll even do an Elka Synthex.

How does it fare against a JP8 or other Rolands?

I found the A6 to be better at harder edged sounds , more on the aggressive side. It seemed to lack the lushness and shimmer of my JP8 , in fact I have not found anything I like better than the Jupiter. But . . . Different is always good. Lets face it you can't have too many synths. Here is a video with both , you can here the sharper more modern sound of the Alesis contrasted against the Jupiter , nice set up too.
