I was awake half the night playing my new Minibrute. I swear this thing is extra-terrestrial. I kept looking over my shoulder expecting to see the men in black, Torchwood, or the original alien owners coming to take it away from me. From France? Yeah, sure, that's what the Coneheads said.
One of the most magical times in my life was circa 1963, at about age nine, when I had the opportunity to play with an old (1940s?) shortwave receiver for several days. The broadcast content was interesting but the sounds I discovered were life-changing. Bleeps, tones and foreign-language loops phased in and out of the ghostly ether. I was sonically connected to other worlds.
Last night when I turned on my new Minibrute, I rediscovered that magic.
I've described the Moog sound as disturbingly "haunted." The 'brute sounds more like Casper the friendly ghost. Don't take my word for it; I'm a weirdo. I was an Ondioline and Clavioline fan years before I ever heard of a "synthesizer." I'm coming from a different direction from most synth players. I never did warm up to my Alesis Micron after a year. But I do LOVE the sound of the 'brute.
And I find it interesting that Moog, who never ever copy anyone, seem to have copied the Minibrute with the Sub Phatty. Perhaps I'm imagining things.
Anyway, a door to a new dimension has been opened for me. Thank you Yves and Arturia. _________________ AEJOTZ is pronounced "A-Jotz"

That is a great feeling!
Happy for you, and anyone who (re)discovers such things! _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

The Minibrute is great. The only issue is the wonky key weight issue (bad glue, so weight can float about in the product box on delivery).
Match it with a Beatstep and get amazing sequencing and pad triggers along with the great Minibrute built-in arpeggiator. _________________ Veni, vidi, synthi... |
