New Year's Eve 2012 & 10 year Anniversary Streaming Concert

Here's a photo of my rig for the event.

The laptop in the center is running Kyma for the black Pacarana box as well as Ableton Live. The Makie 1642-VLZ3 mixer to its left feeds stereo pair 3/4 through the Pacarana and then back into 3/4. 1/2 feeds directly back into itself -- 1/2's feedback loop is not through the Pacarana -- and a tap from 1/2 supplies a modulation signal into the Pacarana for patches with carrier on 3/4 + modulation on 1/2. Output from this mixer feeds Ableton Live (as a final mixer) -> Nicecast.

On the laptop's right is the Yamaha MG124cx mixer with FX that I played at electro-music 2012 (Jeremy played the Mackie). The main feedback loop in the Yamaha goes through FX in Live, and again, Live mixes this mixer's output on the way to Nicecast.

The laptop on the far left is running the sndpeek audio visualization software from Princeton U. (Ge Wang et. al.).

But, of course, that is all self-evident from the photo.

Jan's site has all the important info. You will find your port there. Password is "public". Then, go into the electro-music chatroom and ask for someone to help you with a stream check for NYE.

oddcast no longer exists ... it was named edcast after ... which then died too, there is now edcast reborn : http://code.google.com/p/edcast-reborn/

But I would recommend to use BUTT : http://butt.sourceforge.net/

All the connection info is in http://www.electro-music.com/~janpunter/manage_public.php the username for that page is public and the password for that page is public too.

You are supposed to use port 8130 (public_1).

Later today I will be checking and testing ... Butt is what we will be using, it worked great the last times we used it. I still got edcast working here too in case ... Wink

Our set this year will be two tracks.

1. Ambient in the style of early Tangerine Dream time period (80's ish)
Pedal Steel, Electric Guitar (many processors / gadgets (bent electronics), ~ 6 synths and FM8) Synths poly evolver, prophet '08, Triton Extreme, S-80, Moog Bent Electronics (very old things I made back in the 70's which I re-made from notes many years ago before Bob passed with some input from him in why he changed which I just kept both ways), and Dark Star. Various hand gadgets.

2. Reggae style ... just a little change Wink

no vocals on any .... we will announce names of the tracks and who is playing ....

This year we will not only video the live play from the studio but also replay it on the local Cable TV Channel 165 (Time Warner) later in Jan/Feb. If any on the list would like that too? Just let me know.

All set up just about now & thanks for the help last night from the guys on the Chat room . All systems go now . Set has been put together just in time . there will be another session Musician with me that will build some parts as we both play this set . Alyzen moonshadow ( my lovely wife) who also played in the Sugar Club in Dublin with me .... as she knows the tracks pretty well from endless hours of practice & rehearsals . AlyZen is classically trained on Piano & Viola. So some pieces are been played for the first time live on this stream . there are some tracks you will know already . I will be on Synths , percussion pads & guitar. Alyzen will be on keys .... hope you like the set we have come up with ...

EMjoy my set "Cymberos" from NYE 2012 below. The name is a combination of the words "Cymbals" and "Eros" (love) which is 2013 spelled backwards. I got this pack of cymbals samples a while back and wanted to build a whole set around them for my show.
