Once upon a time, I got the OSX version of the Nord Modular Editor to work with this setup:

Nord Micromodular
MOTU MIDI Express 128
Mac iBook running Mac OS 10.3.x

Now that I'm back from vacation, I can't get the Editor to find my Micromodular anymore. No matter what ports on the MOTU that I connect the PC In/Out ports, the Editor always says "Looking" or "Still Looking".

I hit "rescan MIDI" in Audio MIDI Setup and it didn't report any problems. Since neither the Editor nor Audio MIDI Setup are well-documented for use in OSX, I am a loss at what to do.

OK, there migt be many things going on here..

I reckon you are using the standard non root but admin priviledged default user acct that Apple sets up automatically when installing the OS.

The absolute first thing I would recommend you do is to create a new account.. keep the old one though. just create a new acct and try to set it up under that user. Give that user admin privs too.

You might want to run repair permissions before you create the new account. Disconnect absolutely all USB gear and get the Motu to work first.

Uh.. disconnect all USB gear before you run repair permissions and create the new user. Do you have a USB hub connected?

Hi elektro80,

I have been using my own account on OSX, not the admin account.

I ran repair permissions several times. I also disconnected all USB connections (no hub). I also downloaded and reinsalled the driver for the MIDI interface from MOTU.

Any other ideas? Time to get another laptop?
