Thomas Henry MPS number 2 finished first with mfos dual A/R generator.
I wanted a couple of A/R generators with repeat function and a couple of simple LFO's (lfo's to be fitted on MPS number 1 module, under construction).
These will be used to modulate the mps , cynare , mfos VC echo, mfos VC pan & battery acid CV , when required.
Slowly getting near the end Smile Smile.

Dave.

And also got the Quad-BASS++ finished too Smile after a battle with finding a little slither of copper between tracks on my veroboard daughter board for the pitch bump & wave mods , got it though and working now Smile .

That's all the sound making panels loosly fitted in place in the case, now the long list of snagging jobs to do (wrong direction pots , couple of volume level increases & wire the FX send rotary switches to the modules that don't have an audio output jack on their panels.

may i ask whether you considered a central bus system for the gate/trigger/cv inputs and if yes, what made you go completely modular?

Hi , I did think about bussing the triggers & audio, but when I received the engineers at work midi to 24trig converter, I ended up just running the trigger cables direct to the screw clamp terminals on the converter .

The drum system is run from the heart of my studio... RM1X midi sequencer , I included a few trigger inputs on some modules, when an external trigger is plugged in , it breaks the midi trigger with the switch jacks .
On the nein oh nein modules , the accent inputs are great for adding a bit of velocity changing cv's.

The previous drum synth I built in 2009 had a single panel with 8 voices , it was a pain when wanting to mod something later on having to take the whole panel off .
This 12 panel system (18 voice) will be easier to remove stuff for maintenance or modding.

A bit of info about the build...........

Top Row Left..
808 kick & snare :- Eric Archer layouts + some mods
808 HH's / Cymbal / cowbell :- Minus layouts on electro-music.

http://www.ericarcher.net/

http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-54826.html

http://www.stereoping.com/e-drums/?lang=en

By studying these pages and the 808 service manual I was able to cross reference between them to help me lower the tuning of the kick and extend the decay a little on the snare & cymbal.

2X CYNARE :- as the original CGS47 cynare with the 6 shimmer control pots brought out to the panel.

http://www.cgs.synth.net/

Mega Percussive Synth :- Got these in 2009 standard build without inserts .

http://www.birthofasynth.com/Thomas_Henry/Pages/MPS.html

Bottom Row Left.....

Nein oh nein :- as per purchased pcb kick, snare , rimshot, claps, with all the mods done in the documents.

http://cv.hexinverter.net/?page=projects&id=neinohnein--kick-drum-v10

Quad Bass++ :- as the original plan with bump mod and Wave mod.

http://www.birthofasynth.com/Thomas_Henry/Pages/Bass_Plus.html

http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-53420.html

http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-40457.html

Pan Control :- all the modules have their own volume out controls, the outputs from each module are wired in screened cable to this panel's veroboad circuits , nearly all the voices were reasonably balance in level , only a couple of drum sounds needed a little pre amp to boost.

Mfos oldies but goodies pan mixer

http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/forums.html?MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&PROJARG=OLDIESBUTGOODIES/AUDIOMIXER/panningmixer.html&VPW=1124&VPH=500

FX and mixer :- Hexinverter battery acid CV , compressor & MXR distortion built as per document & pcb , stand alone FX
,Drum voices or external sounds / instruments can be pluged into it.

http://cv.hexinverter.net/?projects=batteryacid-cv-diy-version-of-idow-edition

Mfos cv panner speaker simulator , the outputs are hard wired to the stereo bus , input level is set with a trimmer on the pcb it is set for the drum modules levels only.

2x Mfos CV echo , built as per design & pcb , these are both stand alone FX (in & out jacks).

http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/forums.html?MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&PROJARG=STEREOPANNER/STEREOPANNER.html&VPW=1124&VPH=500

http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/forums.html?MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&PROJARG=ECHOFXXX/ECHOFXXX.php&VPW=1124&VPH=500

The two rotary switches are FX sends for the modules that don't have an audio output socket on their panels , rotary 1 handles Bass++ 1,2,3 & 4.
Rotary 2 handles Cynare 1&2, MPS 1&2 , both selectors send their signals through a unity gain buffer to the single socket under their dials ready to patch to FX .

The little 5 channel pan mixer above those acts as FX returns to the stereo bus or plug an external instrument in if needed or the returns from an external FX unit .

That's my brain empty of drum info now , I'm off to programme some demo patterns Very Happy Very Happy

very cool demos. i like the sound of your 808, the low-pitched cowbell sounds nice. did you install a switch for the timing caps or is it fixed?

thank you for the explanation. i totally missed this post as well as page one of the thread. with the midi > trigger converter it makes perfect sense, thought you were using the front panel jacks only...

Hi Smile
The cowbell had 2 trimmers showen on the circuit to tune the cowbell (& cymbal & hats) I changed those for panel pots for some adjustable tuning , also the hi-hats both have the white noise from the snare available with a 2 way switch to select the original 6 square osc's or the white noise.

the 808 kick & snare panel was a bit empty when designing the stickers, I put the trigger sockets in to fill it up a bit Wink.

Dave.
