Subject description: elektron machinedrum as external sequencer

I recently purchased the Waldorf Blofeld desktop synthesizer, I'm using the Elektron Machinedrum SPS1 as an external sequencer.
I'm facing a problem when it comes to changing the pattern of the Elektron. Every time I jump from patter A01 to pattern A02 for example, the sounds of the waldorf blofeld (in multimode) change, so I have to use the selection dial to select the multimode I created again in order for the previous sounds to play again.

Any idea how can I solve this issue ?

Please help!!

This is caused by something called Program Change messages in the MIDI data. You can often turn off sending and reception of program change in synths so maybe there is a setting somewhere in the Blofeld where this can be switched off. An even better solution is to switch this off in the Machinedrum so it is not sent in the first place. I am not in front of my MD right now but from what I remember there are two ways to send program change from the MD:

1. In the MIDI track there is a parameter that sends program change. Set this to 0 - this is most likely the cause of your problem. It is sent once every time a new pattern is selected and not when it loops.

2. Not entirely sure about this one but the MD responds to program change (as well as note data) for switching patterns - so if 1. above didn't work perhaps look in the global settings to see if it sends program change messages when switching patterns.

Let me know how it works out.

@robsol Thank you so much!!!! I turned off the program change in the global settings, it works well now. I appreciate your help, finally I can prepare my live set.

Glad it worked. Smile

Best of luck with your live set! MD and Blofeld sounds like a powerful compact little combo for live performance.
