Bug: File in use - can´t save |
 |
|
I also sent this to Clavia on the 27th of March:
(Editor version should be put here, but as these are old reports I can´t remember which version I was using at the time.)
---
This has only happened to me once, so I won´t perhaps be able to describe the problem accurately enough...
Anyway, while trying to save a PATCH a dialog box popped up (originating from the editor, not from WinXP, I believe) complaining that the file was already in use and could not be saved. The file name(s) given did not exist before and no other applications were open. Trying to save the file with another name also did not help. Files themselves were created, but probably didn´t contain any data. (I didn´t check the file sizes before deleting the files.) The editor had only been started once so I don´t think any "ghost" editor processes were running. Closing and restarting the editor did not help and I think I even tried saving the patch on the synth, opened a new patch, restarted the editor and reloaded the problematic patch AND IT (saving the patch) STILL WOULDN´T WORK.
Something that I did (not exactly sure what it was) DID finally correct the problem and I was able to save the patch. Probably it was just a matter of restarting the synth...

Probalbly not :-)
Restarting the synth in such a case is a pretty sure way to loose the patch.
Save the patch into the synth instead and restart the editor and or windows and or the computer, pick up the patch again in hte editor, and then for sure it can be saved to disk.
When you're lucky saving into the synth isn't necessary even, but that would be pushing it I guess :-)

I´m not quite sure if I can remember this (at all) correctly, but I think I was unable to save ANY patches while the symptoms were on. Loosing the patch probably wasn´t the main problem as I think I had already managed to save earlier versions of the patch on my hard drive. Restarting the engine (probably) cured the problem, which was a bit surprising as the symptoms seemed to suggest an editor/windoze related problem.
