My First post so hope i am in the right place.

Hope you guys can help out.

I have been writing music for 20 years on various bits of kit, more lately Cubase 6 on my PC and most of this was live guitar based stuff.

I do DJ quite a bit and have some really good ideas on new stuff i would like to put together.

With this in mind i want to get back in the writing mode and knocking up some house real soon.

Just bought a new 27' iMac and want to pick the best DAW for what i want to do.

I really dont want to be bogged down by endless fiddling and returning to the manual/online for help and just want to drop a break in here, a loop there, maybe come up with individual bass lines with decent cutting edge sounds and mash it all together quickly so maybe i can take these ideas into a 'real' studio to produce something i can play out or give to other DJ's.

As i said i have been using Cubase for years but it just doesn't fell like it is giving me everything i need to write good house music quickly.

Your views on what i need to be looking for ease of use and quality in getting ideas down and being inspired by excellent sounds and effects

It's really hard to argue with Ableton for most "traditional" genres of electronic music. It's worth getting the free trial either way.
