Hello all

As has been noted already, things like the GM Voice respond to all 16 MIDI channels. What is needed is a way to filter out Note on messages on each and every channel.

A rough and ready but working prototype:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cUwtTOLAfA

All MIDI messages are read, if a Note on is detected, it's checked to see if it should be sent, if the channel is active (indicated by a light on) it's sent, if not (light off) then it's ignored. If you think about it, not passing Note offs will cause stuck notes, program changes could happen anywhere in a track etc, so only Note Ons are checked.

Code not quite ready for human consumption yet, but comments are welcome.

Regards

This will do that and it's been out there for a couple years. Code is free on the download page. I've built it and verified it works great with GM Voices. I think I also mentioned it on my GM Voice for the 21st Century post.

Yes I've seen that but it only passes note on data on one preset channel.
Doesn't pass sysex either so not really what I was after.
