im new to synth diy and got a basic question about how to wiring the ground to cv and audio sockets.
i came to it because the dopefer busboard got three GND pins.
I ask myself the question everytime when i wiring up the sockets; can i just wire up all gnd´s in series or would it be wise to wire each line seperatly?

the cables used to crimp those connectors are having a small diameter so they using multiple cable for having a bigger diameter in sum

weak power connections, especially GND can cause "phantom" modulations

so, if u use different cables which are having already a proper diameter u could propably use only a single one and connect this to the corresponding pins

I have seen this done different ways but: for anything high voltage (Tube circuits w b rails etc, guitar amps, tube compressors, tube VCAs etc) I use star grounding.

For low voltage (synth, pedals, etc) I wire everything ground in series.

I have made exceptions but for synth/pedal I have not seen any serious differences. For my completely homemade DIY modular it works; no ground buzzes etc. I can't guarantee that for every system out there, obviously.

For tube amps star grounding to me seems essential, for the one tube amp I built (granted--that's not a lot) I got all sorts of hum and buzz issues until I created a well laid out star ground for the entire chassis.

Hope that helps!

I was more about clean and dirty ground. lately i am using a rail for primary purposes and a dirty rail for leds. if necessary, the third rail as a digital ground. but mostly all jacks paralel

I use star connection for both power rails and grounds. When wiring a panel, I will daisy chain grounds of several sockets or pots, but not all of them in one long daisy chain and I use a good "heavy" hookup wire for that. The daisy chains are then star grounded. Current flow is the important factor which is why when I use daisy chains I use a heavier wire. The lower the resistance in ground connections, the better the ground will perform which is why long daisy chains are not recommended. This is also true of all rail connections. Having clean and dirty grounds as well as analog and digital grounds is a good idea, just make sure that in the end, they all come together at a star point.
