Here is my newly compressed (in that it is smaller than before) Frac and Euro modular system. I sold a lot of modules that I wasn't making much use of, bought more of the ones I was, swapped out my Blacet VCOs for Plan B (I like triangle core VCOs,) and put it all in a stackable (read expandable) case. Anyway, here is the pic:

A second NoiseRing is on the way, I'm hoping to add a Zero in that upper Frac space, and I'm waiting for the MOTM 1650 MIDI/CV module to be released. Not sure what will go in the unused Euro space yet. Perhaps a Dual Cyclotron or something like that. I'd like more filters, but those may go into a second case.

That's a feeling I recognize re. listening to Rob's work sometimes, especially when I hear it on his own speakers (instead of my own crappy ones). It really takes you with it, and for noodle like stuff that can be a long way Very Happy

At the same time it's beautiful mostly.

Crikey!!

Long gone too, are the days when one could find a skipful of discarded EMS VCS3's at Sussex University Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I also remember a couple of years back, a Yamaha GX-1 advertised in SOS for £350!!!!!!!!!!!

It must have been a misprint (OTOH, if £350 was correct, then it's hubling to know that bargains can still be had Cool )

I think the story got crossed. Maybe the original story was SOS writer Gordon Reid was tipped off that one was being sold a few years ago in a classified newspaper advert in Australia. So Gordon Reid bought it and had to deal with transporting it to England. Then he wrote about it in a two part story a few years ago in SOS. Not enough of them ever got to England to be showing up in the backs of music magazines. Unless it was a typo and it was actually an FM synth or something else. There seems to be a dozen or 2 in Australia, so that's where most second hand ones come from.

As for the Synthi 100. Someone keeps putting it on Ebay every few months and it never sells. It could be they are just doing it to get private offers. There's always a chance some rich dude to whom $60K isn't a big deal fancies it. But that's not the market value if it doesn't sell.

Do you think I was born yesterday?? Laughing I used to subscribe to SOS!!! Mostly I found GR's articles rather dull- except this one about his GX-1, which was brilliant. I once phoned the guy up (Gordon Reid), but found him rather patronizing- he seemed to think that he was the only person who knew about these old monsters. Come on Gordon (get a grip man!! Laughing )!!!

A true story of a stupid man: I bought a pretty big Roland system 100 in the mid 80ies. Not the fancy 100M, but the more simple semi modular with green metal casing. I had six big modules; two sequencers, a mixer, a keyboard module and two expanders, totally three voices.
In the early 90ies, I got tired of it all, decided to quit modular synth world and go for rock music. I sold it all to a friend for the same as I bought it for, about USD 400. After some years he did go psychotic and went to hospital and gave his belongings to the Salvation Army.
Some years ago, I saw a much smaller combination of System 100 for USD 2 500 in a vintage synth shop.
I wish I had kept them. Not for the money, but for the fatness of the sound. However, they where hopless in one aspect: They did not stay in tune.

Nothing special here, except that today it was first time, when I used all my modules (except MIDI interface) and nearly all patch cables. Besides, I spent two hours fighting/learning my brand new 20 euro digital camera.

Best regards

Sorry, "brand new 20 euro" was misleading. The camera is second hand and it is a discontinued model. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, as most often pictures taken indoors look bad.

I have not much exprerience yet: Cwejman modules have lots of functionality. Sound is tight and controllable. The build quality seems excellent.

- OSC1- (inverted) output of my VCO-2RM is reduced. I will get it fixed.
- I could use an attenuation knob on the MMF-1 Spacing CV.
- CV inputs of the ADSR-VC2 override (rather than add to) the corresponding knobs. I find this inconvenient.

I did find cheap 2nd hand rack boxes from a television studio. It was not enough for all racks, but this is how it looks right now. It is around 130 modules most of it is Doepfer.

If you want to hear, how the patch in my picture sounded go here...
http://www.esnips.com/doc/04923d4a-ed8d-449c-8e4e-a77e26feff91/First_big_modular_patch
...and be prepared for three minutes of solid boredom - this is all new to me after all. At least you can hear the fastness of the Cwejman envelopes.
