Regarding the red led located at the 741 ic https://imgur.com/a/kLaJ3Mr

should I just place it on the board? does it need to be at front panel ?
If the above led function is only for visualization can I omit it?

Actually - can I omit the 2x 072 ICs and their related components if I give up on led visualization?

Thanks for any clarification!

Ken's article doesn't show this LED on the front panel and there's nothing connected to CA and CK in the wiring diagram. Though there are wires connected in a board photo. scratch You can definitely omit the LED. But U3 is used for the coupler outputs.

Thank you!
I meant to omit the op amps marked in green in here: https://imgur.com/a/Npq1q8L

their only function is as led indicator ?
if so, can I omit the part of the circuit markin green?

Yes, those pairs of opamps drive the LEDs. If you don't want the LEDs, you can omit them.
