Momma needed a bundt cake pan, and presented with a choice between a cheap one and a pricey and patriotic deluxe Made In Merica version I went and got her the pricey one. It was when I accidentally made it ring while unpacking it that I realized I had bought her a multi-purpose kitchen/musical device. I defy anyone to find a bundt cake pan that produces the same pleasing overtones and sustain while at the same time retaining its ability to help bake a kick-ass bundt cake.

Recorded with a MXL Revelation in cardoid into Reaper, and using the totally-necessary-in-this-instance iZotope RX Pro De-hum plugin. (That thing works wonders: the Revelation is a tube design and has a bit of noise to it.)

That is truly amazing, even more so because I couldn't get more than a dull thud out of our bundt pan. It could be my technique though.

Laughing Butt end of a hickory Vic Firth American Classic 7AN straight into the side works for me.

Cool! Out of habit I did not normalize the recording, but I probably should have on this one.

Thanks, I was within inches of the mic, the de-hum plug-in works wonders on it. I bought into the iZotope plug-in subscription for a project that involves more than 20 songs that were recorded in various studios 40 years ago. Probably kept me from turning into wreck before my time, as some of these tracks were poorly engineered.
