Hey everyone,

I am currently looking for the proper way to thermally couple SMD components parts. Since I can't really stick them together, what is the best practive ?

The circuit is a pair of matched transistors and a tempco.

My thoughts for now :

- glue them together with some kind of thermal paste
- placing them really near in the PCB
- using a small SMD heater next to them to stabilize their temperature
- not soldering one of the two on the PCB, but using small wire to connect to the pads and placing the part upside down on the second one

Any other ideas or suggestions ?

Have you considered putting a small heatsink or piece of metal across both of them? Copper, aluminum, etc. wouldn’t necessarily need to be a ‘typical’ heatsink…could be something like 14Gauge copper wire flattened and attached to the tops of each using a thermal adhesive.
