I was thinking about building a sequencer that is more than just 16 steps.
i came up with this idea to use a 16th grid to trigger a lfo that is clocked to the master clock (lfo B)
the clk rate is than controlled by a level sequencer and the length of the lfo output goes trough a envelope.
I think this is a nice solution for creating wild / exotic rhythmic sequences.

But i have a question: is this a good way or can this be achieved in a much more efficient way. (i think there must be Smile )

Have you seen Rob's "VariableStepLengthSequencer" for this kind of stuff!!
http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-11424.html
I really like it for making rhythms beyond the plain 16th-grid!
And I made me a little Max Patch for programming this one, because programming the level sequencer to the right note values is not very intuitive and inserting/changing values completely changes your rhythm. So in Max I can programm step-lengths saying "1/16","3/32", and I can Copy/Paste parts/segments of the pattern to move them around for inserting/adding/changing durations Cool

I can post the patch as soon as I find the time to clean it up and make it ready for the Max Runtime Rolling Eyes

best
Lars

That's a good idea for performances, using MAX/MSP or Pd (or any other) to break out more info from the G2. I had thought of doing something similar with a little hardware device...I wanted a basic pattern sequencer (ala 303, and the korg electribes) but didn't want to use keys and wanted more than 8 sequences visible. This might work as the go-between. Thanks for posting, and please, post the patch when you get the chance!

Sorry for the delay!!
The problem is, that i used the ice.pump external from dspaudio for the keyboard control of the patch. But as it's a commercial external and they have their own policy regarding the release of apps using their stuff I decided to make a dspaudio free version, which basically means "re-engineering" the pump object for my needs. (i need this for a couple of other projects, too...)

But I'm pretty much done with this...

Maybe tonight Rolling Eyes

best Lars

ok, no guarantee, but it seems to work (using a not yet finished keystroke handler). not sure if it initializes proper, maybe one has to reassign the cc#'s ..? Let me know!

If you don't have Max you can grab the Runtime for free!!!
