June Solstice Streaming Event Subject description: on the electro-music radio |
 |
|
Calendar Event: June 21, 2014 Event to be held on the electro-music radio on Saturday the 21st of June 2014
[The event page is up now]
As before, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address:
For reference, this clock should be useful:
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo .
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before or sooner. Sorry, but musicians WILL NOT be allowed to stream on Saturday if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time.

All you need to know is on this page: http://electro-music.com/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Radio.ConnectionDetails
You can use Port 8130 for both testing and broadcast on the day.
Log in to the chat while you test to make sure nobody is using the port and to help you test/solve potential problems/questions/what have you. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

If we have traditionally had a port and a password assigned (my port has consistently been 8088), should we stay with that? I just tested outgoing and it connected OK. Am about to get onto the chat.

Mosc at the regular time please, but just the normal 1/2 hour slot. Since Bill will be away, it's alright to give me another time, if that makes the schedule easier to arrange. _________________ --Howard

OK, that's not a problem. There is not a huge turnout this time round so that makes things more flexible.
It's also looking like I will be able to attend myself. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

OK, here's a thought for the hour which is the break, ie 22:00 - 23:00...
It may be messy, but it's an experiment so here goes:
Several (minimum 2) people stream in a circular fashion, listening to one other streamer and sending it on to the next. The only rule is that you have to change the incoming stream in some way, be it using effects or trying to interpret it using your own instrument (or even voice). You may also add your own material if you wish.
It has to start off in some way, so it starts by everyone playing something until they hear something coming into their player, at which point you may continue to play or concentrate on changing the material.
Everyone records their outgoing stream and posts it after. It is therefore perhaps not really a live (or at least centralised) event, but it should be interesting anyhow.
We will spend as much time as it takes to get it organised on the day, which means that the actual streaming won't nescessarily be a full hour. Because it may be a bit complicated to pull off, once you're in, you are in for the duration, and newcomers can't join in after it has started. It will be coordinated through the chat room.
If you know you are interested in taking part, give a shout in this thread and turn up well before 22:00 GMT on Saturday and maybe be prepared for a little bit of chaos getting it off the ground. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Rob, looks fine. I can take a (hint hint) and do 60 minutes. Not sure how that shuffles things.
I may be able to join in on the collab, depending on when our day guests leave. Current estimate has their departure around 22GMT. They have little kids, so it might be a bit earlier. I will know by the day of.
Thanks.
