Subject description: a real throwback to yesteryear

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum...

First, I bought a Casio MT-68 on ebay. My first "synth" was a Casio MT-65; identical to the MT-68 but in a different color. That was the unit I first made AEJOTZ music with, back in 1983.

The MT-65/68 is now considered a classic, with the best sounds from that era of Casio keyboards. The acoustic instrument replications are inaccurate but beautiful.

I've missed my old MT-65 ever since I left it behind in one of my many moves.

The second funny thing is that I just recorded a piece of music that sounds very much like the stuff I did in '83. Only one part is quantized and another one is looped. Everything else is imperfectly hand-played in real-time, just like in the olden days. What the proverbial heck?

Autumn doesn't quite make me nostalgic but it makes me remember. I remember that I was very excited to create a new kind of music back in 1983. And I remember that not one of the 20+ people I shared it with liked it. Come to think of it, I was the only person in my circle who had albums by Tomita, Synergy, Garson, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.

Wow, I never knew that AEJOTZ was a type of music, I thought it was just your screen name/artist name! "The more you know", ha!

Anyways, this composition is very retro, especially with the sound type used throughout the song; the hand-played non-quantized parts flow smoothly, and I find it important that sometimes, there could be certain parts of a song that would actually benefit from the "human touch". When I do this kind of thing while making music, it's subtle and you need a good ear to find it, but little things like this makes a difference. Excellent job on the song, sir! Smile
