controlling knob assignments using another knob

Not a sound (well not really), but more an experiment. inspired by the
VU meters.
The idea is to create a switch on parameter 1 which will control the
knob routing for parameter 2.
I used 2 track and holds as a sort of value memory which will be
switched with a small delay from the same 2-1 switch which routes the
knob output level.
The same technique as the original VU meter is used to reset the the
parameter 2 knob position to the other value, i.e. send a controller
message to the same slot which is MIDI assigned to the parameter 2 knob
value. Given that this is feasible the number of knob routings can be
even greater using the 8 switch for instance.

A bit cryptic I must admit, but look at what happens and you'll see what
I mean.

Playing around with it a bit I noticed that the resolution is a bit of a
problem, and it does require a lot of modules now, but I thought I'd
share the idea as this could potentially increase the number of
assignable knobs. This could come in handy if you want to stick to the
G2 standard of page A VCO's, B LFO's etc. I noticed I ran out of page
space quite quickly.

This is really a neat trick. There are probably good uses for this in complicated patches. You have two delays used in conjunction with the Track and Hold modules. Why are they set at different time constants?

The time constants do not have a relation to each other, I just twiddled them until they worked. It seems to be touching the machine limits here. When the delay is set to low the TH up flank seems to occur before the actual switch of the output signal to the MIDI ctrl, causing the wrong signal to be sent.

I guess this depends on the implementation of the modules and can probably only be explained properly by the clavia programmers.

Anyway, due to the number of modules needed I doubt the practical use. But it brings me back to the old days of calculating digital circuit timing. Smile
