No, those are the ones I already had. Almost none of those scans are straight which makes it very hard to produce reasonable PCBs from them. But the scans from v-un-v were much better.

And this *is* the Elektor Vocoder thread. Loss just hijacked it for this mythical cmos vocoder, which should really be in it's own thread Wink

Of course it is Wink

No, but original magazines would of course be great when I start building...

I have a complete collection of Elektor magazines and an almost complete collection of ETI magazines.

I can only recall the two main designs that have already been mentioned from these magazines (as complete articles). I have a vague recollection of another vocoder somewhere in my magazine collection, but I can't for the life of me remember where.

I always coveted the ETI vocoder, but the main PCB was something like 14 by 8 inches, which would be a nightmare for home production and a small fortune to have made for you.

While doing a check on Google, I did come across this interesting article anyway:

Found the ETI Tech-Tips article for the CMOS Vocoder, from May 1982, by a certain S. P. Giles or Edmonton.

Based on the CD4069 with an additional BC109 and 1N914 being the only other active parts for each filter channel.

If I have Stephens permission, I'm quite happy to scan and upload it tomorrow.

Incidentally, this magazine and the one either side had an interesting series of articles by Tim Orr on synthesiser circuits. Though these were quite heavily focused on CEM chips, there were still enough other circuits to make this an interesting read. Also, whilst hunting though my ETI magazines I found a nice 4 channel 1V/Octave polyphonic keyboard controller that doesn't appear to use any rare chips.

Regards

Magman

This is brill! Thanks, both of you!

Magman, you may need to get permission from ETI before uploading anything. I've written to Elektor before and although they had specific rules, they were happy to allow scans to be uploaded Very Happy

I think Stephen may or may not have a similar situation. Okay? Smile

v-un-v,

I had thought about the copyright issue, that's why I didn't just upload the scan, but I was a little bit unclear of the ownership (hence my question to Stephen about permission).

I suspect your right though, I expect that copyright for the article has been transferred to ETI when Stephen sold them the article. Unfortunately, it is a long holiday weekend in the UK for Easter, so even if I emailed them today, I doubt that I would get any reply from them before next week.

As a much bigger project, I was planning on contacting EPEMag the publisher of Everyday and Practical Electronics (who I believe now owns the copyright to ETI as well as Practical Electronics) to see if I could negotiate permission to upload a large number of scans of electro-music related articles from these old magazines (I will also need to find somewhere to host them) for the community to use, as both of these magazines stopped publishing over a decade ago. I think I might try kicking off these negotiations next week once the holidays are over.

Regards

Magman

To be honest, I don't think you will have a problem. I tried getting PE to do a Minisonic Mk3 a few years back- but they had totally lost the plot, and couldn't understand why anyone would still be interested in analogue synthesis in this day and age. They were even more confused when I mentioned monophonic! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Excellent stuff anyways Magman Very Happy
