I have recently been pondering whether I should invest in purchasing the more expensive OPA2134 when in need for a TL072.

is it a better option? Does it provide a better sound quality than the TL-72?
It sure costs more, about 6-7 times more, but then again I am after cleaner sound.

It probably depends on where goes in the food chain.

High quality audio op-amps in the CV chain are probably wasted. And if you put them early in the audio chain but follow them with ordinary op-amps, their clarity may be wasted too.

(Similarly, distortion on a single VCO might not be very easy to hear, but distortion when you have multiple VCOs mixed together is very easy to hear: maybe that is an effect you want, but again to reduce it you would again probably put the high-quality op-amps late in the chain.)

That is my theory anyway.

The OPA134/2134 have much lower leakage and offset than the TL071/072. I use them extensively in my oscillator and filter designs to improve tracking, temperature stability and range.

Very Happy
