Bit of info...
It seems Small Bear was out of the MN3005's last I checked. But, UTSource.net has stock for $15.00 a chip. I ordered 4 of them. I've purchased from them before and they seem to be reliable and send stock as advertised. These ones were listed as Panasonic made. I can post when they come if anyone is interested.

Update, I bought some and they work fine. I swapped them into my "Time Machine" and all was good. I can recommend UTSource.net for the MN3005's. And, it looks like SmallBear has them again, but at $35.00 a piece.

Great!,the only thing we have to do now is motivate Juergen to make a circuit design. |

If this counts as good news: I have ordered a couple of 3005's myself now from utsource.

Hasn't been specified yet. If you read the rest of the thread, you'll note that many people, including Jurgen, are buying 2 or more. Probably only one will be used per pcb, but they're expensive, and hard to find, so you might want to have 2 just in case. |

i think JH wrote somewhere here 1 or 2 per board.
i hope the posibility of minimum 2 as one is good for 300ms max i think!? |

Two BBDs, with the option of just using one when short delay time is enough and you don't need stereo outputs

Juergen,
Just a thoughed, maybe you could use the LTC1063 Clock-Tunable 5th Order Butterworth Lowpass filter chips in the design for the low pass filters in the delay section.

lol, this chip is more expensive as an MN3005!
Its already crazy enough how our master-man overloads his pcb's with shitloads of ic's |

Exactly my first thought also, when I looked it up!

Great am gonna ask utsource for free MN3005 samples then!
Designing a pcb taking count to use only ic's u can get for free is completely foolish.
But am not surprized as u lives in Netherlands lol (I know most of my dutch mates are greedy ,but not all ) |

Right. Well, you could still buy them if you don't get free samples, but it's way too expensive then.
Who knows if they change their policy about free samples tomorrow?
Who knows if you'll have to cheat and tell them you're a company that intends to build a product that uses 10k of ICs per annum, in order to get these free samples?
I did that once with a company of optoelectronic devices, kept up my "story" on the phone when they called to ask back, and felt utterly bad about it later.
I'll find another way ...

Having followed this thread since its generation, I think you should call it the Wish delay. Or cooler, Der Traum. |

Isn't there a Schulze track with Teisco organ and delay, called "Traumraum" ?

Sorry guys, but i'm not greedy.
I was a compeny untill some weeks ago, I was designing a analog delay for some guys in Belgum but quit the job. So I have got these for free on a legal base . But indeed this is not the way people shoot get them. But it was just a thought of me. |

Arrrgghh...
Just got my MN3005 chips (4) in from utsource and none of them work. I put them in my Doepfer analog delay module and they did not work. How are other people doing with their chips? Is there some reason (besides being dead) that these chips should not work in the doepfer module? (the MN3005 IC that came with the module works great).

So I got 4 dead MN3005 chips from utsource and I started gathering info (pictures and specs) on the chip to see if I could get an idea of what was going on. The spec sheet and all of the pictures I could find of the chip (from the internet and the utsource site) show a circular indentation (dot) on the top of the chip (this is not the orientation notch) but the chips they sent me do not have this dot. This made me think that the chips I got were fakes and I told utsource this. They wrote back and said that their supplier said they did not have the dot because my "date codes" were different. Did anyone receive working MN3005 chips from utsource that do not have the dot on top? The whole thing just sounds kindof fishy. I'm currently in conversation with utsource to get the chips replaced.
Thanks,
David |
