Power supplies for your modulars? Subject description: Probably especially Ray's soundlab etc? |

I'm not really sure what forum I should post this in, since its some stuff I want to sell, I figured this might be more appropriate, but I think its an interesting idea that masbe should get discussed in the DIY synth forums?
I have a "Stack" (many!) of these battery chargers.
There where bui8lt to re-charge 8.4 volt ni-cad batteries for hospitol equip. Mostly pagers I assume. The batteries look exactly like 9 volt batteries, but they are only 8.4 volts.
These charge 20 batteries at once. Being that the batteries are 8.4 volts, I am guessing that the charger kicks out 9 volts or so.
THAT being the case, each little slot is basically a 9-volt source, right? And THAT being the case, then couldnt a couple of them be "bridged" in order to get 18 volts? Or wired for the bi-polar power supply needed by most modules?
I havnt done much probing to see the exact voltages and amperage coming out of this thing. BUT these are very well built, and have a whole lot of circuitry that detects when batteries are fully charged or not, and probably provides a very clean (Im guessing and hoping) power supply.
I've put up some pictures of what Ive got and what these things are.
A folder of big pictures: http://www.chrometuna.com/stuff/charger/

And a web gallery of the same pics: http://www.chrometuna.com/stuff/medipicpa/

Does anyone want to experiment with one of these things? Im not sure how much I want for them. BUT if nothing else, these cases are pretty cool for gutting and mounting your synth in!
It would be easy to cut an aluminum, or whatever sheet to fit the front panel space.
Tell me what you think, please?
