|
CHILDREN OF THE BOMB is finally here!
It is finally November 11th... and today is the release of the follow up to 2009's "Lines & Shapes." Where "Lines & Shapes" was an homage to old school warehouse rave and breakbeat, "Children Of The Bomb" is a futuristic, bass driven, experimental hybrid of electro, hip hop, and rock. Where "Lines & Shapes" urged you to dance, "Children Of The Bomb" urges you to punch someone in the face!
01 Intro
02 Children Of The Bomb
03 Anarchists & Revolutionaries
04 Brooklyn Stomp
05 Renegade FM
06 Gunshots & Peace Signs
07 Casting Shadows
08 The Void
09 Particle Dance
10 Plagued States
11 Switchblade
12 Let's Get Down
13 All Is Forgiven, All Is Forgotten
14 Keep Holding On
15 Oh No! (Doomsday Mix) [Bonus Track]
Download the full length album for free right here!
There is also an optional $5 donation for those who would like to show support.
For those of you who like shiny discs and artwork, physical CDs will be available for purchase next week through the NR Reverbnation store at a modest price.
Thank you all for the years of support and taking the time to enjoy some underground electronic music.
Now it's time to line up some shows!
NR <3 U,
-Mike

Any visual artists/filmmakers out there looking to collaborate on some music videos for tracks off the new album????
Open to ideas.
Would love to create a project for a visual accompaniment to the album and link to each contributor's page and info.
The album has social/political undertones... a sonic take on the current state of the world. The idea behind the title came from thinking about how at one point in time there was a generation that didnt have to live under the shadow of having the ability to destroy itself with a single weapon. After the first detonation of an atomic bomb, we became the future generations living under the shadow of a mushroom. To be able to wipe itself from the face of the Earth. Its a scary thought. I read an article about different levels of civilizations. Were pretty much in the bottom tier. But it said that if we had the capability to build a weapon that could destroy us, but didnt act on it or even think about doing something like that would move us to the next tier. We're still kinda working on that one. So the fact that we havent completely killed ourselves is a bit promising. But we all are the children of the bomb. And its a responsibility we all have take.
The political and social tensions happening across the globe, especially in the US, have been a huge inspiration for the tone and angst in the new album. This is a protest record. A loud and bassy protest record. Its dark, its angry, but ends with a kinda hopeful message with the line "It's so good that I keep holding on.". Like we're on the brink of an awakening. _________________ Download the latest releases

Put together a few extra tracks for Christmas Eve in a zip file... contains a new mix/mash up of "Slaughterhouse" that I've been performing live, the cut track "Def Mental" off Children Of The Bomb, "Gutter" another cut track from the Lines & Shapes sessions, & Lockdown's remix of the Neorev classic "Coming On Strong." Enjoy & happy holidaze!

This review from March that I just stumbled upon for my debut album "Lines & Shapes" makes me blush...
"Long Island’s Neorev, aka Michael Matteo, embodies the epitome of what electronic dance music should be, i.e., music first and foremost, not just endless, insidious thumping. The fact is, the tracks on Lines & Shapes are actual songs with structure and changes, not just squibbles and squeaks over a 4/4 bass drum.
Lines & Shapes opens with “Oh No!”, an aggressive, almost industrial track recalling Lords of Acid or perhaps even My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult. Things change on “Force,” an Arabesque drum & bass trope. From here the tracks continue to demand attention while never stooping to the typical boring phrases and clichés expectant of electronic dance music. Several tracks, “The Stars Above Us,” “No Turning Back” and “Another Cloudy Day” even take on a particularly Krautrockian tone, eschewing the beat in favor of form and feeling, like Kluster or something.
In a style as bland as modern dance music, it’s quite refreshing to hear a collection of songs with some thought behind them. EDM doesn’t need to be boring, it just tends to be that way. We need more Neorevs to teach us otherwise."
