Hello everyone

I made a decent copy of the wp20 circuit board and sent it to Ray who's very kindly put it up for grabs on his site. Please feel free to go and use this image to make up your own wp20.

http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/WP20/wp20pcbbig.gif

of course Ray isn't supporting this unit any more- but at least this gif of the board will help make this classic circuit go a bit longer.

The logo has changed slightly (on the board) because I didn't have the original font on my Mac- but perhaps this is good because all those who have already built this little box of fun- well your pcb has now catapulted itself into 'classic status'- cool!

Looks great! thanks.
Have to make one of those after the mini-synth, although
should have done WP-20 first. The sound lab is just laid out so nice though.

no pressure how bout an updated panel wiring layout Wink

Good morning Zebra.

I had a look at the panel wiring last night- I don't see why you have a problem with it? It looks perfectly adequate to me.

What is it you don't understand?

best

Tom

Oh, its not that bad. I understand everthing on it. Its just a little hard to see some of the letter connections. I haven't even rotated it of zoomed in a little because I haven't gotten close to making it. I just
thought maybe a little more updated layout would get more people
interested in this cool little synth. Some people may be reserved about trying it, even though its seeems more simple than the sounlab. The sound lab page is just laid out so much nicer.

thanks

Hi all,

this is my little contribution to the good old WP-20...

Into the compressed folder you will find these three GIF files:
1- the PCB (component side view)
2- the Panel Wiring Diagram
3- the Additional Parts Layout

1- PCB:
this PCB is almost the same presented on Ray's pages... I only added a On/Off status LED, with related resistor, and the mods for CV input and GATE input with related components. The diagram is bigger than actual dimensions so you have to reduce the scale to proper dimensions in order to use it.

2- Panel Wiring Diagram:
the original project uses slide switches, but since toggle switches are easier to mount, I had to make a brand new wiring diagram because toggle switches work in the opposite way compared to the slide switches.
THIS PANEL WIRING DIAGRAM WORKS WITH TOGGLE SWITCHES ONLY!!! DO NOT USE IT WITH SLIDE SWITCHES!!!

3- Additional Parts Layout:
this file shows the components and the inputs related to the mods I've done on the original PCB... take note of the following list:

Rl = this resistor gives a proper supply to the LED. Choose the value you prefer.

Rc = 100K

Rg = 10K

Qg = transistor 2N3904

Hey Wild Zebra, I hope this helps Wink

Hooray! There's no stopping you now! :)

It's great when someone on the other side of the world, who you respect for what they do, endorses your efforts- its a nice feeling. I just wish more people trusted others- perhaps then we would live in a slightly less fucked-up world that we do today :)

for those who might be interested in this project:
I'm digging the opportunity to connect to the WP-20 the simple S&H circuit presented on Ray's pages, in order to widen the palette of sounds we can get out of this good synth... will keep you updated.
