Buchla Knob Group Buy #3: Small Blue Un-skirted Subject description: $4 each; 100 and over $3 each |
 |
|
I'd like to get started on the next group buy for blue Buchla knob reproductions. After going over my estimates I believe with enough orders I can offer them for $4 each, with a minimum order of 40 knobs. On orders of 100 or more, there will be a price break to $3 each.
This current order is for the smallest size, unskirted knob, with black indicator marking---pictured below. These knobs are used on many modules such as the 259, 266, 281, etc.
Please PM me as soon as possible with your order. I'd like to collect orders and put the buy through in 2-4 weeks this time. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm not sure what you mean? Aside from the color, the knob pictured above is the small unskirted style knob used on most buchla 200s. |

I think that the color is not blue on your picture.
And the line black on top is missing.

this is just a stock photo for this knob style. The group buy is for this knob, in blue, with black indicator line.
The knob in the photo may also be a larger size, but the small ones look essentially, or even exactly the same. It's the exact style used on most blue knob 200s. |

I wouldn't call either one 'fake'. The knob in the former picture, from dego, is the same kind I currently own and use. They were sold to me as Buchla replacement knobs and based on pictures I'd seen, they have been used on Buchla panels, or at least used as replacements by Buchla owners. I believe both knobs are the same model and manufacturer, perhaps from different years.
However, on the few Buchla 200 modules I've seen in person, I've observed the shorter knobs with one set screw used. This is also what is currently being manufactured by Rogan for this model #. So, it's what this group buy will be buying. I don't know if the taller ones are even available anymore.
Similarly, on early Buchla 200 modules, and on many Music Easels, there was another version of similar knobs used, the Alpha model. These can no longer be manufactured for 1/4" shaft, and are therefore not as practical for most people's purposes. |

Ok,i see thanks for clarification.
I did take a look on the rogan site, they call it the 'deep core' version.
Why do u not go for these instead? ,its those u use yourself already and sold to other members here ,they have a better grip imo

The DC versions are probably better in the fingers, but the non-DC version
fits better look-wise with the skirt versions ,Check:

Hi I am in I just send you a PM.
I will take 40 knobs.
But it would be nice if you could send
me the specifications for the big blue Rogan knobs
I missed the last group buy so I will probably order
some myself.
Thanks for doing this group buy by the way. |

3vco,
if you want to do a group buy for Marshall amp knobs, you should, but, respectfully, I don't know why you'd be posting about it under this buchla knob group buy topic? These knobs aren't even vaguely the same : )
FYI, Rogan knobs can be purchased in any quantity from Allied, for example. however, they're only available in black, and the small ones only with 1/8" shaft. I think they're around $3 each.

Hi I changed my mind. I think I will order 50
if thats ok with you? It's such a rare opportunity
to get new rogan knobs for the Buchla.
I just paid a very high price for one of the
red rogan Alpha knobs so I know what I am
talking about. |

Hi guys.
I have a few "real" Buchla modules on my desk and there are three different types of knobs used.
The "shorter" one that this group buy is about is used when the pot has 1/8" shaft. These have one set screw.
The "taller" one (like the Dego-shot) is used where the pot has 1/4" shaft.
These have two setscrews.
The ones without marker are not fakes but propably just broken skirted knobs. The skirt breaks and then that is what is left, I have a few of those...
Another style (Alpha-model?) is sometimes used, all knobs have fewer and bigger knurls, I have these on a 227 and have seen them on Music easels too. |

am sure not, because there is also a difference when u look at the top of each knob, the DC version have large border at top ,the other and the skirted have small border so those that dego have are just DC vesion without marker |

I'm waiting on one last payment--which will be in by this coming weekend-- before putting this order thru. So, if anyone still wants in, Saturday will be the cutoff. Manufacturing time is 5 weeks, and then it will take me a week or so to divide up and send out individual orders. So, expect delivery around mid-May.
On a related note, I'd like to gauge interest in another order for the blue skirted "medium" sized knobs. Several people have asked if I'd do another run of this size-- so I'm wondering generally how high the interest level is? The first time around I had a couple massive orders that allowed me to buy a huge bulk; I don't expect to meet that quantity again, but there should be enough interest to meet the bare minimum requirement. So, I'm estimating the cost to be around the same price as the current order for small knobs($4.00 each).
Please post here or PM me with the quantity of skirted knobs that you would want. Thanks.
