Yikes, some very unkind person hacked into our forum database and corrupted the data. Fortunately, we were able to restrore from a backup that was only 2.5 hours old. If there were posts made during that interval, then we lost them.

We took this outage as an opprotunity to do a little site maintenance as well. Please PM mosc if you notice something not working like it should. It's possible we got some things wrong.

Other than that, it has been a great day.

i dont really know why someone would intentionally
want to destroy electro-music.com, but if your lucky

We know who it was, or at least who he claims to be. His name was plastered all over the database. I choose not to post it here, why publicise it?

I Agree with mosc not to publicise the name, thats most probably
what he wants . I still dont understand the reason for the attack.
I someone attacked a naziserver or something i would possibly
agree with it, but a free music site. beyond my understanding. :/

What they do is posting the site they have defaced .. there are special sites for posting such news all over the net. At least one of those is a site that focuses on security issues. A serious site.. but in order to attract visitors they opened up a fourm just for hackers to post defacement news themselves. So they actaully changed their site into a hacker PR site.. I have tried to make them stop that shit.. but they are insisting on the defacement database being legal and whatnot. Anyways, because of sites like that being around that actually register and post such news the sick kids are still motivated.

Just a question to Mosc, Do you know how they corrupt your database ?
May be they have use the last vulnerabilities/exploit found in version 2.0.12 of phpBB. Did you upgrade to the last version ?
Today, providing a web service on Internet is very hard to maintain, you need to keep up to date all your software, if you don't want some script kiddies play with your work ... too bad Crying or Very sad
