...how to emulate the mst/slv connection of the NM osc on the g2 oscs.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Cheers

Not so easy, have a look here : http://electro-music.com/forum/post-101365.html#101365
Edit : But it depends very much on the patch, the general solution is not so easy, for a particular patch it might be dead simple - maybe post the patch, or patches if not too many. Or when it's a patch from the NM Classic lib there might be a G2 translation already. _________________ Jan

THx BH.
I haven't looked at yr link but will in a minute.. It is not a specific example i have it is just whilst reading guides and some docs for the NM1 it got me wondering how to replicate the same effect on the G2.
I'll give the link a read and come back to you if I still have a more specific question. (i had done a search on the subject on here and it lead me to the Nm1 to G2 Converter stuff, but coudln't really find the answers i was looking for in there.)
Thanks in advance.

Please come back on it when you can't find it - maybe I can find some example patches. _________________ Jan

The only thing i really foubnd on the there which seems similar is the sync masking, is that the same thing?
I tried it out and did certainly soften the sync effect but not sure whether it is the same as reversing the wave. _________________ iP (Ross)

The masking is different from the phase reversal; the phase reversal keeps edges out of the signal by reversing the signal (so there is no continuity jump) and the masking keeps them out by setting the amplitude to zero when they occur. At least tha't what I think
I'm having a look at the soft sync patches (assuming you mean http://www.clavia.se/nordmodular/Modularzone/Softsync.html ) but see no quick way to convert these for the G2.
In the above patch what happens is that when the top osc is at a positive level the bottom osc will follow it's tuning and when the top osc is at a negative level the bottom osc will follow it as well only with the wave running in reverse direction.
There is no direct mapping for this on how the G2 modules work I think. Maybe someone else sees how, but I can't get the tracking of the two oscillators right on the G2, or so it seems.
Also see http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-1970.html for a related discussion. _________________ Jan

Yes it would be nice to have a direction control on one of the audio oscillators. The LfoShp osc has one so you can hear what it sounds like but with too much aliasing for everything but very low notes. See SoftTwo.pch2
I think what Dave was talking about is illustrated in softone.pch2 because the slave oscillator is at zero Hz, the amount of FM is what sweeps the sync effect, not quite the same but similar tone.

I would suggest converting NM1 patches using g2ools because it was a very difficult problem to solve. I had to use translation tables and several 2 channel mixers (with inversion), as well as other tricks. 3phase and me spend a good part of 2 weeks trying to get it right. There are many cases that have to be accounted for. Like when the slv connection goes through blue rate signal processing (mixers, multipliers, etc.). Or when the mst inputs were using blue connections. Plus, if LFO's are in the mix that adds another level of problems.
It handles most of the cases perfectly, but there may be situations that were not accounted for (though none have been reported).
A straight G2 patch may be less of an issue because it's built with the G2 in mind from the start.
