hello there,

i have recently been very lucky so i got some spare cash to finally upgrade my production set up. I was planning to buy some items and set them up as follows but i don't know whether this set up will work the way i hoping i could get some advice from people who know.

OK, the main part would be a Nord Lead 2 rack synth, going into a lexicon omega USB interface (this one has 4 line inputs for the ' analoque outputs of the Nord Lead). The Nord Lead receives MIDI IN from the lexicon interface and feeds that interface with its MIDI OUT. The interface would be connected to my PC via USB. A Evolution 33C controller and a simple m-audio USB keyboard connected to my pc will complete the set up.

My main question is this one; can i play the nord lead from my midi synthesizer without noticeable delay because the synthsezer is connected first to the pc. Or would it be better to get me a midi box or something so i can combine the midi out from my midi keyboard and from the interface so i can trigger the nord lead from the keyboard and from my software sequencer, ableton in this case.

Another thing i'm not really sure about is the delay for the evolution cotroller device. Do i have to connect this device to my soundcard directly or can i just connect it to my PC in order to have a less delay as possible. This device would be used to control paramters in ableton.

Is there a possibility MIDI conflicts between my devices, software, interface, synth will occur??
Any help will definetly be grealty appreciated, kind of a novice in this kind of stuff and buying stuff you can't really use would be a bit stupid nowadays. anyway, have a nice day

welcome Blimpy,

it might not work, but why not just try it first? You can always buy other boxes later.
