i have a Korg Triton, Akai sampler/sequencer, and CD mixer (old DJ) ...
i think all i need is an 8/16track digi recorder and some mics to achieve what i want which is : to record live sessions and then remix/master to burn to eventually remix live. crrrazzzy
am i correct in my gear assumption ? i am anti-PC ... so please no mention of Reason or on-line anything

Yup, you will need something like the Korg D3200.
Just for the record, the "anti-PC" ( which I´m guessing does not mean anti politically correct ) is kinda not relevant when it comes to music making these days. A computer set up as a DAW is pretty much as mandatory as a jack cable. You can get great results without a computer, but the genre of music kinda defines what gear is really needed. If your genre demands complex micro edits and certain tricks that only a computer can contribute with.. well.. then you don´t have much choice.
As for mastering, in modern mastering ( and that goes for the bedroom studio as well ) certain tools are needed that you won´t get anywhere else than from a fully rigged DAW.
Well, sure .. you can buy brilliant stand alone gear that can do much of this ( but not quite ) but when you start stacking this in the rack you will soon find out that this soon costs 10-300 times more than a DAW.
Anyways, a Korg D3200 or something like it can do a lot of good work for you. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

thanks for the reply ... i was kinda going on the premise that i have all the tools i need on board but i am sure you are right that final 'tweaking' will need to happen on-screen. i have a Mac but the software updates are expensive to keep up with and i as i am an old Technics DJ, i still have an analog mind.
i was looking for something in the $500 or less range - very garage style.
thanks again _________________ ~music is what paintings sound like~ |
